ある日、日だまりに置かれた影のできている食器を見ていて思った。
「光と影」とは言うけれど、その境目はよくよく見ると明確なものではない。
それは他の事象にも同じで、例えば白と黒、東洋と西洋、 禁欲性と官能性、醜と美、
それらは離れたところでは明らかに別物だが、境目は曖昧だ。

このシリーズのチャコールグレーは、日本瓦の色から。
帰国してすぐに目に飛び込んだ美しいものが瓦屋根の続く町並みだった。
これが私達の美だと思った。

One day, I saw the light and shadow on a table. The border was not clear. I could realize the border only by words. The same thing can be said about other things, for example, white and black, East and West, stoicism and sensuality, beast and beauty and so on. Apparently those look different, but actually those border is not clear. I was very interested in the truth. So I have decided to use the vagueness for objects. This charcoal gray is quoted from Japanese roof tiles. I’m sure that a rows of houses with Japanese tiles is one of our beauty.
